Keith Rosenberg
Keith first fell in love with Zambia in 2008 while working on a global health practicum for his Master's in Public Health. He has so far returned to Jumbe three times after that, as a fourth-year medical student at Ohio State University and then after residency. He is now an emergency medicine physician in Portland, ME. He anticipates many future trips to Zambia, where he works at Kamoto Hospital.
Ashkan Morim
Ashkan had his first trip to Zambia in 2008 for his public health practicum. He instantly fell in love with the welcoming locals and the beautiful country. Inspired by his trip to Zambia and Europe, Ashkan has since has been on several exciting adventures in and out of the US. Ashkan currently works for the non-profit organization PASHA and hopes to have many more trips to Zambia, especially to Mambwe district and Kamoto Hospital. Ashkan is now an emergency medicine resident in California.
Melanie Kennedy
Melanie is a pediatrics resident in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2010, Melanie conducted research on nutrition and development in rural Honduran communities outside San Pedro Sula for PODEMOS, a medical brigade created by OSU medical students. Her specific research focused on methods lay healthcare workers use to identifiy children at highest risk for malnutrition. She enjoys expanding her knowledge of international health while helping the people of Zambia.
Lauren Rosenberg
The design of a community plays an important role in its citizen's life -- it has an effect on where we eat, sleep, work, and play. Lauren incorporates her architectural training and experience, using it to help build communities in Zambia, with the hope that these new communities will give Zambians a sense of place and pride.
Sarah Bradford
Sarah Bradford is a general surgery resident in California. She went into medicine with the hope of practicing global health. She spent two weeks at a mission clinic in the Dominican Republic; however, her interest in healthcare for the underserved grew most during her time working in free clinics and volunteering for Columbus North Central Mental Health services. She traveled to Zambia to learn about barriers to providing healthcare in a resource-poor setting, broaden her perspective on disease and healing, and contribute to the global health community.
Nathan Holman
Nathan is an internal medicine resident in South Carolina. He has a passion for global health and has been on multiple medical brigade teams in Honduras. He also has completed research abroad concerning malnutrition and competition for resources among Honduran families. He, along with Melanie Kennedy, presented this research at the American Academy of Family Physicians Global Health Workshop in 2011. He hopes to continue to learn about international health care and provide meaningful service.
